Website terms of use
Last updated 6 October 2026
In short: this website gives general information about Archer Ventures Limited. It is free, it is not an offer of anything, and nothing on it is financial or investment advice. You may read it and link to it, but not copy our content or misuse the site. The Doomscroll Book has its own terms. Please read these terms in full, because by using the site you agree to them.
1. About these terms
These terms of use ("terms") set out the rules for using this website (the "site"). By accessing or using the site, you confirm that you accept these terms and agree to follow them. If you do not agree, you must not use the site.
We recommend that you print or save a copy of these terms for future reference. They are available in English only.
2. Who we are
The site is operated by Archer Ventures Limited, a private company limited by shares, registered in Ireland under company number 826807, with its registered office at the address shown at the foot of this page. We are not registered for VAT.
3. What words mean
- "We", "us" and "our" mean Archer Ventures Limited.
- "You" and "your" mean the person accessing or using the site and, where that person acts for a business or other organisation, that organisation as well.
- "Consumer" means an individual acting for purposes that are wholly or mainly outside their trade, business, craft or profession.
- "Content" means all text, images, graphics, logos, designs, layouts, code and other material on the site.
- Headings are for convenience only and do not affect how these terms are read. Words such as "including" and "for example" do not limit the words before them.
4. Other terms that apply
These terms refer to, and should be read together with, our privacy policy, which explains how we handle personal data.
These terms do not apply to The Doomscroll Book, a product we operate at thedoomscrollbook.com. Your use of that product is governed by its own terms of service and privacy policy.
5. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms at any time, for example to reflect changes in the law, in our business or in how the site works. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. Please check this page each time you use the site, because the terms in force at the time you use it apply to you.
6. Changes to the site and availability
We may update, change, suspend or withdraw all or any part of the site at any time and without notice, for business, operational, legal or technical reasons.
The site is provided free of charge. We do not guarantee that it, or any content on it, will always be available or uninterrupted, and we will not be liable to you if it is unavailable at any time or for any period.
7. Who may use the site
The site is directed at people in Ireland and the European Union, but anyone may view it. If you access it from another country, you do so on your own initiative and you are responsible for complying with your local laws. We do not represent that the content is appropriate or lawful to view in any particular country.
You are responsible for making the arrangements you need to access the site, such as your device and internet connection, and for making sure that anyone who accesses the site through your connection knows about these terms and follows them.
8. Information only, not advice
The content on the site is general information about our company and its products. It is not intended to be advice of any kind, including legal, financial, tax, accounting or professional advice, and you should not rely on it as such. You should get professional or specialist advice before taking, or not taking, any action based on the content.
We make reasonable efforts to keep the content accurate and up to date, but we do not represent, warrant or guarantee that it is accurate, complete or current. Any statements about our plans or future activities reflect our intentions at the time of writing and may change.
9. Not an investment firm
Archer Ventures Limited is not an investment firm. It is not authorised or regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland or by any other financial regulator, and it does not manage money, give investment advice, or arrange, offer or sell investments.
Nothing on the site is, or should be read as, an offer to sell or a solicitation of an offer to buy shares, debt, or any other security or financial instrument in Archer Ventures Limited or any other entity. Nothing on the site is a prospectus, an advertisement for an investment, or an invitation or inducement to engage in investment activity. Our shares are not offered to the public.
10. No offer and no contract
The site does not sell anything, and nothing on it is an offer capable of acceptance. Using the site, emailing us, or exchanging correspondence with us does not create any contract, partnership, joint venture, agency, employment or other legal relationship between you and us. Any agreement between you and us will only be binding if it is set out in a written document signed by an authorised representative of Archer Ventures Limited, other than agreements made through our products under their own terms.
11. Our intellectual property
We are the owner or licensee of all intellectual property rights in the site and its content, including copyright, database rights, design rights and rights in the names "Archer Ventures" and "The Doomscroll Book", the AV monogram and our other logos and branding, whether registered or not. These rights are protected by law throughout the world, and all of them are reserved.
Fonts used on the site are licensed to us under the SIL Open Font License, and those licences are included with the font files.
You may view the site on your device and print or download extracts of individual pages for your own personal, non-commercial reference. You may share links to the site. You must not:
- copy, reproduce, republish, distribute, sell, license or create derivative works from any part of the content, except as these terms allow;
- use our names, logos or branding, or anything confusingly similar to them, in any way that suggests a connection with us, our approval or our endorsement;
- modify any copies you print or download, or separate any images or graphics from the text that goes with them; or
- remove or alter any copyright, trade mark or other notice on the site.
If you print, copy or download any part of the site in breach of these terms, your permission to use the site ends immediately and you must, at our option, return or destroy any copies you have made.
12. Acceptable use
You may only use the site for lawful purposes. You must not use the site, or attempt to use it:
- in any way that breaches any applicable local, national or international law or regulation;
- in any way that is unlawful or fraudulent, or has any unlawful or fraudulent purpose or effect;
- to gain unauthorised access to the site, the server it is stored on, or any server, computer, account or database connected to it;
- to attack the site through a denial-of-service attack, a distributed denial-of-service attack, or any other attack that disrupts, overloads or impairs it;
- to knowingly transmit or introduce any virus, trojan, worm, logic bomb, ransomware, spyware or other material that is malicious or technologically harmful;
- to scrape, crawl, harvest or extract content or data from the site by automated means at a scale or rate that burdens it, or for building a competing product or training datasets, other than by search engines indexing the site in line with our robots.txt file;
- to probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the site or any connected system, or breach any security or authentication measures, without our prior written permission;
- to send, or arrange for the sending of, any unsolicited or unauthorised advertising or promotional material, spam or similar solicitation; or
- in any way that infringes our rights or anyone else's.
If we reasonably believe that you have broken this section, we may take any action we consider appropriate, including blocking your access, taking legal action against you, and reporting the matter to the relevant authorities, including An Garda Síochána, and sharing your identity with them where the law allows.
13. Linking to this site
You may link to our home page, or to any other page, provided you do so in a way that is fair and legal and does not damage our reputation or take advantage of it. You must not:
- establish a link in a way that suggests any form of association, approval or endorsement on our part where none exists;
- link to the site from any website that contains content that is unlawful, offensive, misleading or infringes anyone's rights; or
- frame the site on any other website.
We may withdraw permission to link without notice.
14. Other websites
Where the site links to other websites and resources, including those of public bodies and our own products, these links are provided for your information only. Such links should not be interpreted as our approval of those linked websites or information you may obtain from them. Apart from our own products, we have no control over the contents of those websites or resources, and we accept no responsibility for them or for any loss or damage that may arise from your use of them.
15. Ideas and material you send us
We welcome messages, but please do not send us confidential information, business proposals, inventions, product ideas, creative material or other proposals unless we have first agreed in writing to receive them on specific terms.
If you send us any such material without that written agreement, you agree that:
- we are under no obligation to keep it confidential, to review it, to respond to it or to pay you for it;
- we may already be working on, or may later develop, ideas that are similar to yours, and receiving your material does not prevent us from doing so; and
- to the extent the law allows, you will not make any claim against us arising from our use of ideas or concepts that are similar to, or the same as, anything in your material.
This section does not give us ownership of any intellectual property you hold, and it does not affect how we handle personal data, which is covered by our privacy policy.
16. Viruses and security
We take reasonable steps to keep the site secure, including serving it only over an encrypted connection and not loading any third-party scripts. However, we do not guarantee that the site will be secure or free from bugs or viruses. You are responsible for configuring your own technology to access the site and should use your own virus protection software.
Misusing the site by introducing malicious material, or by gaining or attempting to gain unauthorised access to it, may be a criminal offence under the Criminal Justice (Offences Relating to Information Systems) Act 2017 and other laws. We will report any such breach to the relevant authorities and co-operate with them.
If you believe you have found a security vulnerability in the site, please tell us at hugh@thedoomscrollbook.com and do not exploit it or disclose it publicly until we have had a reasonable chance to fix it.
17. Fraud and impersonation
We will only ever contact you from an email address ending in a domain we own, such as @thedoomscrollbook.com, and we will never ask you to invest money, send payment to an unfamiliar account, or provide passwords or financial details by email. If you receive a message claiming to come from Archer Ventures Limited that does not meet these standards, or that you are unsure about, please do not respond to it and contact us using the details on this page. We are not responsible for losses caused by third parties who impersonate us, to the extent the law allows.
18. No warranties
The site and its content are provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all conditions, warranties, representations and other terms which might otherwise be implied by statute, common law or the law of equity, including any implied terms about satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, non-infringement and uninterrupted or error-free operation.
19. Our liability
19.1 What we do not limit
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under Irish law. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
19.2 If you are a business user
If you use the site for business purposes, then, to the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable to you for any loss or damage, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise, even if foreseeable, arising under or in connection with:
- your use of, or inability to use, the site; or
- your use of or reliance on any content on the site.
In particular, we will not be liable for loss of profits, sales, business or revenue; business interruption; loss of anticipated savings; loss of business opportunity, goodwill or reputation; loss or corruption of data; or any indirect or consequential loss or damage.
19.3 If you are a consumer
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill. Loss or damage is foreseeable if it is obvious that it will happen, or if, at the time you used the site, both we and you knew it might happen. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable.
19.4 Overall limit
If you are a business user, then because the site is provided free of charge, and to the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with the site or these terms, however it arises, will not exceed one hundred euro (€100). This limit does not apply to the liabilities in section 19.1.
20. Your responsibility to us
If you use the site for business purposes, you agree to indemnify us, and keep us indemnified, against all losses, damages, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) that we incur as a result of your breach of these terms or your unlawful use of the site. If you are a consumer, you are responsible for loss we suffer as a foreseeable result of your breach of these terms, to the extent the law allows.
21. Suspending access
We may suspend or block anyone's access to the site, or any part of it, at any time if we reasonably believe they have broken these terms, to protect the site or other people, or where the law requires it. Sections of these terms that by their nature should continue to apply, including sections 11, 15, 18, 19, 20 and 25, continue to apply after your use of the site ends.
22. Events outside our control
We will not be responsible for any failure or delay in providing the site that is caused by events outside our reasonable control, including failure of our hosting or network providers, internet outages, cyber attacks, power failures, fire, flood, storm, pandemic, war, terrorism, civil unrest, strikes, or acts or orders of any government or public authority.
23. Privacy
We only use your personal data as set out in our privacy policy. In summary, the site sets no cookies and runs no analytics, and the only data it handles is the technical information any web server receives.
24. General
- Entire agreement: these terms, together with our privacy policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about your use of the site, and replace any earlier understanding about it.
- Severability: if a court or authority decides that any part of these terms is unlawful or unenforceable, the rest of the terms remain in full force. Where possible, the affected part will be read in the way that gives the closest lawful effect to its original intention.
- No waiver: if we do not insist on you following these terms, or delay in doing so, that does not mean we have given up our rights, and we can still require you to follow them later.
- Transfer: we may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation, for example if our business is sold or restructured. You may not transfer your rights or obligations without our written consent.
- Third parties: these terms are between you and us. No other person has any right to enforce them.
- Relationship: nothing in these terms creates a partnership, joint venture, agency or employment relationship between you and us.
- Notices: we may give you notice by posting it on the site or, where we have your email address, by email. You may give us notice by email or by post to our registered office.
25. Law and disputes
These terms, their subject matter and their formation, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, including non-contractual disputes or claims, are governed by the laws of Ireland.
If you are a business user, the courts of Ireland have exclusive jurisdiction over any such dispute or claim.
If you are a consumer, the courts of Ireland have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you live in another EU member state, you can also bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live, and nothing in these terms takes away the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of that country.
Before starting any formal proceedings, we ask that you contact us first so that we can try to resolve the matter informally.
